There is a group of 59 state Democrats calling for Gov. Andrew Cuomo to resign.
It comes in the wake of a new allegation that he groped an aide at the Executive Mansion last year.
A letter was released by the group of lawmakers, who say that Cuomo is no longer able to lead the state.
The New York State Assembly could impeach Gov. Cuomo, but it’s unclear if they will take that step.
Leaders said on Thursday that they were exploring options to move forward.
“In light of the Governor’s admission of inappropriate behavior and the findings of altered data on nursing home COVID-19 deaths he has lost the confidence of the public and the state legislature, rendering him ineffective in this time of most urgent need,” the letter said. “It is time for Governor Cuomo to resign.”
