Another six home runs for Yankees, who complete three-game sweep of Blue Jays

As the Yankees continue to bash balls over the fence at a historic rate, Luke Voit has not been shy about thumping his chest, announcing that his team is “back to being the Bronx Bombers” and that opponents should not want to see them in the playoffs.

It would be difficult to argue any of those points, especially this week. Voit crushed his Major League-leading 20th home run, one of six by his club, as the Yankees pushed their win streak to eight games with a 10-7 victory over the Blue Jays on Thursday to complete a series sweep at Yankee Stadium.

The Yankees celebrated the first five-homer inning in franchise history in the fourth, and when Gary Sánchez went deep in the seventh, it set another record: six or more home runs in three consecutive games, a feat never before accomplished.

Brett Gardner, DJ LeMahieu and Voit all cracked consecutive homers in the fourth inning, followed by back-to-back blasts by Giancarlo Stanton and Gleyber Torres in a seven-run inning. All five of the homers came off right-hander Chase Anderson, who saw his ERA swell from 5.81 to 7.45.
