On Sunday around 10 p.m. firefighters from around Ontario County were called to a structure fire at 24 Church Street in the town of Richmond.
Richmond, Bristol, Hemlock, and Fishers fire departments all responded to the scene. When deputies first arrived they found a house fully-engulfed in flames.
Fire crews readied and began working to extinguish the blaze when the heat damaged a neighboring structure. The fire, which was noticed by a neighbor after observing the glow in their windows, rushed to notify the owners.
After several attempts she was able to awaken the residents. All individuals inside the home were able to escape without injury.
The Red Cross responded to the scene and assisted with emergency services and housing. The neighboring structure suffered damaged as well.
Crews were on-scene for several hours battling the fire. Lima and Livonia Ambulance responded to assist. Members of the Ontario County Fire Cooridnator’s Office, as well as the Sheriff’s Office are investigating the cause.
Investigators believe the fire started in the garage, and does not appear suspicious. The house was demolished on-scene to fully-extinguish the fire shortly before 4 a.m.
