Sterling man accused of assault, choking victim in domestic incident

A Sterling man is facing multiple charges after deputies say he assaulted a woman and obstructed her breathing during a domestic incident last week.

Cayuga County Sheriff’s deputies arrested 40-year-old Brandon P. Adam on March 31 following a reported disturbance at a residence on Center Road.

Investigators said Adam grabbed the victim by the neck, applying pressure that made it difficult for her to breathe, and struck her head against a wall multiple times. A child was present during the incident, according to authorities.

Adam was charged with criminal obstruction of breathing, third-degree assault, and endangering the welfare of a child.

He was arraigned April 1 and released after posting $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond. He is scheduled to appear in Sterling Town Court at a later date.
