Growing your own marijuana in New York is now legal, but breaking the rules can still bring serious penalties, according to The Ithaca Journal.
Adults 21 and older can grow up to three mature and three immature plants each, with a household cap of six of each. You can store up to five pounds at home, but selling what you grow remains illegal.
The rules also require secure, private growing spaces and steps to limit odor and visibility. Officials stress safety, especially with indoor setups, as violations—or large-scale grows—can still lead to major criminal charges.
