The New York State Fair has been cancelled.
“This one hurts – I love the State Fair. But the risk is too high to hold it this summer,” Governor Andrew Cuomo said in a tweet.
He held a press conference on Monday, updating the state on its COVID-19 response.
He called the fair a great economic boon for the regional and state economy, but noted that holding the fair wouldn’t be possible under present circumstances.
The Governor asked for continued mask-wearing and social distancing to ensure that the virus does not return to New York.
