State Route 54 in the Town of Barrington will shut down to traffic starting at 6 a.m. Monday, June 16, for an emergency culvert replacement, the New York State Department of Transportation announced.
The closure will occur one mile north of the Steuben County line. The road is expected to reopen by Friday, June 20.
Motorists are advised to follow the posted detour using State Routes 230 and 14A. Variable message signs have been set up to alert drivers ahead of the closure. Delays are expected, and alternate routes are encouraged.
The project schedule depends on weather conditions and may change. Drivers should use caution in work zones—fines double for speeding, and multiple violations could lead to license suspension.
