It is a possibility that schools and businesses in the Finger Lakes and other regions of Upstate New York State could reopen sooner than those downstate in areas more affected by the coronavirus. This, according to Governor Andrew Cuomo during Monday morning’s press briefing in Albany.
“Could I see a distinction in places that have different caseloads? Yes,” Cuomo said when asked if life Upstate could restart sooner than New York City. “How do you calibrate that in a reopening plan? That’s what we have to think through.”
New York City and surrounding suburban counties account for over 92% of all cases in New York State.
