New York State is hitting pause.
The Associated Press reports that they will not come down on stores that continue to use single-use plastic bags until April.
That’s when fines will be assessed to retailers that violate New York’s new plastic bag ban.
The stoppage is due to a lawsuit being brought by convenience store owners and bag manufacturers.
Violators of the new law will be warned first, then fined $250 for the second violation, then hit with a $500 fine for all others.
