Dundee, Penn Yan programs will merge this fall

Could it be time to merge? Looks like it is in Yates County.

The Dundee and Penn Yan football teams, as swell as the fall cheerleading spirit squads are merging this fall. A resolution passed at a Dundee school board meeting on February 6th got the ball rolling. Another resolution, set to be passed at a meeting in March in the Penn Yan School District will accomplish the same.

Dundee Superintendent Kelly Houck told The Chronicle-Express that the partnership has been a student-athlete driven project, with representatives from coaching staff and athletic directors from both districts all working together.

The move is in response to declining enrollment numbers, and participation count in sports like football in small districts.
