In Lyons the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office has announced the arrest of Kate M. Ogdenski, a 29-year-old resident of Canandaigua, on charges related to welfare fraud.

The arrest followed an investigation by both the Sheriff’s Office and the Wayne County Department of Social Services into a complaint of fraudulent activity.

Ogdenski is accused of not reporting income while receiving benefits from the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), thereby violating program rules.

This oversight allegedly led to her unjustly receiving $5,274 in SNAP benefits. The charges against her include grand larceny, welfare fraud, and offering a false instrument for filing.

Following her arrest, Ogdenski was detained at the Wayne County Jail, awaiting arraignment before a judge.
