The Seneca County Sheriff’s Office reports that on January 19th at approximately 2:31 a.m. deputies responded to the area of County Road 121 in the town of Fayette for the report of a car in a ditch.
While deputies were on their way to the scene, witnesses observed Victoria Scharett, 30, of Waterloo leave the scene in another vehicle.
Responding officers then stopped a vehicle, operated by William Petrie, 46, of Fayette. Investigation determined that both Scharett and Petrie were under the influence of alcohol.
They were both charged with driving while intoxicated. Scharett was processed on two charges – DWI and driving with a BAC over 0.08%. She was also ticketed for failing to maintain lane, and leaving the scene of an accident.
Petrie was charged with DWI and aggravated DWI. He had a BAC over 0.18%, deputies said.
Both are expected to appear in CAP Court at a later date for arraignment.
