One killed, four others hospitalized after fatal wreck in Southern Tier

State Police say one teen died after a crash in the town of Erin around 8:30 p.m. on Friday. At least four others were hospitalized with a variety of serious injuries.

The crash was reported on Langdon Hill Road.

Troopers say investigation revealed that the vehicle was traveling west on Langdon Hill Road when the operator lost control and went off the roadway striking several trees.

A 17-year-old female passenger inside the vehicle, identified as Alecia Sedlak, was pronounced dead at the scene. Another 17-year-old female passenger was airlifted to Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, and an 18-year-old male passenger was airlifted to Robert Packer Hospital for treatment.

The operator was not identified, but was transported to Robert Packer Hospital for injuries sustained in the wreck. Another 17-year-old female passenger was also transported to Robert Packer Hospital.

The crash remains under investigation.

Troopers say they were assisted by the Chemung County Sheriff Department, Erin and Breesport Fire Department and Erway Ambulance.
