Rayquan Brooks, a 23-year-old resident of Newfield, was arrested on Tuesday facing multiple weapons and drug charges. The Tompkins County Sheriff’s Department conducted a probationary check on Brooks, who was on probation due to previous weapons charges, and discovered methamphetamine, heroin, and various pills in his possession.
During the investigation, deputies also executed a search of Brooks’ residence, where they found an AR-15 rifle and a loaded 30-round high-capacity magazine. This led to further charges, including criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree.
Brooks is now held at Tompkins County Jail, awaiting further legal proceedings. As of now, no bail has been set.
