Deputies: Bath woman forged check, attempted to cash it

Steuben County Sheriff Jim Allard reports that on December 18th a Bath resident was arrested for attempting to cash a forged check.

Valerie Rhodes, 48, of Bath is accused of taking a check belonging to another person, completing it, and signing it without that person’s knowledge or permission.

It’s further alleged that Rhodes, as result, violated a term or condition of her parole and was arraigned on a parole violation. She was also charged with third-degree forgery, criminal possession of a forged instrument, and petit larceny.

Rhodes is scheduled to answer the charges at a later date.
