A Cameron man was arrested after police say he tried to rob a woman and then allegedly threatened a Corning Police officer with a knife.
On Friday, October 18 at 9:15 a.m., police say 32-year-old Andrew Mastin was arrested.
Mastin allegedly entered a convenience store in Corning and while there, approached a woman that had just used the ATM to withdraw cash.
Police say Mastin then allegedly threatened her with a “dangerous instrument that he brandished” and tried to take the cash. A witness to the incident reportedly dialed 911 and Mastin fled.
Responding City Police officers say they found Mastin walking in the area of West Denison Parkway and Walnut Street. Police say Mastin then allegedly pulled a knife from his waistband a “physically menaced” an officer as she was approaching him.
The officer then reportedly persuaded Mastin to drop the knife and he was taken into custody without further incident.
