Police: Manchester man stole $3K of items from Dick’s Sporting Goods

A man from Manchester was arrested Friday afternoon after troopers said he had more than $3,000 worth of stolen items in his car.

State Police stopped a car on the NYS Thruway in Sullivan for a traffic violation.

While talking with the driver, 50-year-old Anthony Monaco, they learned there were two active warrants for his arrest in the Syracuse area. After searching his car, police said they found $3,059 worth of brand new sporting goods, along with wire cutters and an anti-theft magnetic attachment used to bypass security tags. The property was determined to have been stolen from a Dick’s Sporting Goods store in the Syracuse area.

Monaco was taken into custody and charged with third-degree grand larceny, possession of burglar tools, and a traffic violation. He was arraigned and remanded to the Madison County Jail in lieu of $20,000 cash bail or $40,000 bond.
