Passenger airlifted after vehicle crashes into barn in Wayne County

Deputies say charges are pending the results of a blood test after a vehicle crashed into a barn Sunday around 2:23 a.m. in the Town of Galen.

Deputies responded to 8896 Travell Knapps corners Road in Galen for the report of a vehicle into a barn.

Matthew Diaz, of Galen, who was reportedly operating the vehicle was traveling south on Travel Knapps Corners Road – when he was unable to navigate a corner – causing the vehicle to leave the roadway and strike a nearby barn.

Diaz was able to exit the vehicle on his own. However, Tyler Felix, of Savannah was trapped inside and had to be extricated by firefighters.

Diaz was transported to Strong Memorial Hospital by Clyde Ambulance. While Felix was airlifted to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment.

Deputies say charges are pending the results of a blood test.

The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Clyde Fire Department, Clyde Ambulance, Lyons Ambulance, Lyons Fire Department, Mercy Flight and County Medics.
