Weedsport man arrested on burglary, unlawful imprisonment charges

A Weedsport man has been charged with burglarizing a city apartment and holding a person inside against her will, the Auburn Police Department said Monday.

Jason Michael Baker, of 2720 E. Brutus St., Apt. 3, Weedsport, was picked up Saturday on an arrest warrant for second-degree burglary, a felony, and the misdemeanors of second-degree unlawful imprisonment and fourth-degree criminal mischief.

Police said that at 8 a.m. March 12, Baker forced his way into a former girlfriend’s apartment in Auburn. The alleged victim attempted to keep Baker out of the building, but he forced his way in. The victim then tried to leave the apartment, but Baker kept her there for five hours. No property was reported stolen.
