Cornell researchers have observed superconductivity and electrically controllable orbital magnetism in six-layer graphene, according to Cornell.
The findings appeared Oct. 22 in Nature Physics.
The team studied rhombohedral graphene, a form of the carbon material with a particular arrangement of its layers.
The work came from the research group of Cornell physics assistant professor Liu.
Jinghao Deng, Hongyuan Li and Jiabin Xie were among the researchers behind the study.
The findings show that adding and arranging layers can produce electronic behavior beyond that of a single sheet of graphene.
