Y Combinator co-founder Paul Graham encouraged Cornell students to build things that interest them during an Oct. 28 campus talk, according to Cornell.
About 600 people attended the event in Call Auditorium.
Graham, a 1986 Cornell graduate, spoke on “How to Turn Yourself Into a Startup Founder.”
He urged students to develop ideas around things they would use themselves and to pursue their curiosity.
He also encouraged students to stay in college rather than assume dropping out is a necessary step toward starting a company.
The talk launched Cornell’s Humanities, Social Sciences and AI visitor program.
Graham co-founded Y Combinator with Jessica Livingston and others in 2005, and the startup accelerator has worked with more than 6,000 companies.
