Gov. Kathy Hochul has reached an agreement with legislative leaders to remove a proposed cannabis wage board and ownership reporting requirements from legislation, according to the Times Union.
The agreement would preserve the repeal of a requirement that cannabis license holders enter into labor peace agreements with unions.
The proposed three-member board would have recommended minimum wages for cannabis industry workers.
Hochul said the wage board and reporting provisions could increase business costs and push customers toward unlicensed sellers, while several cannabis industry groups welcomed the changes.
The governor said lawmakers would address the negotiated revisions through an amendment in the next legislative session.
