DEC seeks more information on Seneca Meadows expansion

State environmental regulators have again found Seneca Meadows’ expansion application incomplete and requested additional information before the review can advance, according to the Finger Lakes Times.

The Department of Environmental Conservation issued its latest notice Sept. 21 and directed the landfill operator to respond by Oct. 30.

Requested revisions include engineering details for the leachate treatment system, updated operating documents, monitoring information and a construction schedule.

DEC said it must consider the requested expansion modifications alongside renewal applications for the facility’s permits, which remain extended under state administrative law.

Regional Manager Kyle Black said the company would submit the requested information Oct. 30 as regulators review the expansion and permit renewal applications together.
