Ontario County inmate accused of making 20 calls in violation of protection order

An Ontario County Jail inmate faces 20 misdemeanor counts after investigators accused him of using multiple inmate accounts to call a person protected by a stay-away order.

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office arrested Wayne Spencer, 50, without incident at 6:31 p.m. Oct. 20 on 20 counts of second-degree criminal contempt.

Investigators said Spencer made the calls on 20 separate occasions between Sept. 29 and Oct. 19 while incarcerated at the jail, 3045 County Complex Drive in the town of Hopewell.

The calls violated a stay-away order of protection, according to the sheriff’s office. Each charge is a Class A misdemeanor.

Spencer remained at the Ontario County Jail to await arraignment at CAP Court.
