An Ontario County sheriff's investigation led to a petit larceny charge against a Canandaigua woman after a reported theft at the Walmart in Hopewell.
Deputies arrested Ella Sanders Robinson, 19, at 11:49 a.m. Thursday following the investigation at 4238 Recreation Drive, according to a sheriff's office release.
Investigators said Robinson put merchandise valued at $135.85 in a shopping cart and passed all points of sale without attempting to pay.
Deputies charged her with one count of petit larceny, a class A misdemeanor, and released her on an appearance ticket for a later date in Hopewell Town Court.
Geneva and Canandaigua police assisted the sheriff's office in the investigation, the release said.
