An Ontario County sheriff’s patrol car collided with another vehicle in a Hopewell roundabout Oct. 17, sending a passenger to the hospital.
The two-car crash happened at about 8:19 a.m. at County Road 46 and Smith Road, according to the Ontario County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputy Jacob DeChick, 29, was driving east on County Road 46 when he entered the roundabout and collided with the side of the other vehicle, the sheriff’s office said.
That vehicle’s driver, Chase Atwood, 18, was traveling south through the roundabout to continue onto Smith Road and was not injured.
A front-seat passenger in Atwood’s vehicle complained of arm pain and was taken by Canandaigua Ambulance to F.F. Thompson Hospital, where she was treated and released.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
Everyone involved was wearing a seat belt, the sheriff’s office said.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
