Wayne County corrections officer exam applications due Oct. 28

Wayne County corrections officer exam applications due Oct. 28

Applications for Wayne County's corrections officer exam are due Oct. 28, with an online training-and-experience assessment scheduled for Nov. 1-30.

The Wayne County Sheriff's Office is promoting the exam for prospective jail officers, and the county application listing sets the filing deadline at 5 p.m. Oct. 28.

Applicants must upload their driver's license with the application. The filing fee is waived.

Approved applicants will receive email instructions for an online questionnaire rather than a written, multiple-choice test. It must be completed by 11:59 p.m. Nov. 30, using a personal NY.GOV ID account. People who already have an account should use it rather than create another.

Scores will reflect training and experience gained before the application deadline. The exam will establish an eligible list for future vacancies; applying does not guarantee a job.

Candidates need a high school diploma or equivalent. At appointment, they must have a valid New York driver's license, be U.S. citizens and meet Wayne County's residency requirement. Appointment also requires physical and medical screening, a background review and required training.

A separate qualifying physical fitness test will be scheduled as needed. Questions about exam No. 60072320 can be directed to Wayne County Human Resources at 315-946-7483.
