Watkins-Montour Rotary plans Nov. 7 blood screening

The Watkins-Montour Rotary Club will hold its annual community blood screening Nov. 7 at the Clute Park Community Center in Watkins Glen, offering appointments for a Quest Diagnostics blood analysis through AMBA Wellness Programs. The event runs from 6 to 10 a.m., and participants must reserve a time in advance by calling 800-234-8888 on a weekday, according to the club's announcement.

The screening is organized through AMBA Wellness Programs, with blood analysis by Quest Diagnostics. According to the club, the standard panel includes tests related to coronary, kidney and liver disease and anemia.

Quest charges $60 for the screening, including a $15 specimen-collection fee. Rotarians will also request an additional $10 at the event to support the club's community projects in Schuyler County. The club described the screening as a major annual fundraiser.

To make an appointment, call 800-234-8888 between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday. Registrants will be asked for their personal physician's name and address, and participants must bring photo identification to check in.

The club said additional tests for prostate-specific antigen, thyroid-stimulating hormone, vitamin D and hemoglobin A1c, as well as a colorectal screening kit, are available at extra cost. Those options require a doctor's order. Call the same number for information about those tests and their prices.

The Clute Park Community Center is in Watkins Glen. The club did not provide a street address in its announcement; participants should confirm the location when scheduling.
