A No Kings rally focused on early voting and voters' rights is planned as a public event for Saturday, Oct. 17, outside the Schuyler County Courthouse in Watkins Glen.
Hector/Schuyler Indivisible said in a press advisory that the gathering will run from 2 to 3:30 p.m. along the Franklin Street sidewalk. The group describes it as part of a nationwide day of action called No Kings: Vote Early.
Organizers plan a “honk and wave” and said volunteers will share early-voting information with people in the community. The event also will mark the start of what the group calls its Early Voting Ambassador Campaign.
The group said it will hold a food drive for a local food pantry during the gathering. Its advisory did not specify a list of requested donations.
The organizers described the event as focused on nonpartisan voter participation and election protection. They said they hope to draw people ahead of the midterm elections.
