Cayuga County DMV sets Oct. 13 grand opening on Dill Street

Cayuga County will hold a grand opening for its relocated Department of Motor Vehicles office at 25 Dill St. in Auburn at 9 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 13. The temporary DMV office at the county Public Safety Building closes permanently Friday, Oct. 9, according to a release from County Clerk Kristine Lytle.

The new office will restore commercial driver's license testing, the clerk's office said. The DMV will continue to serve walk-in customers without requiring appointments.

The Dill Street facility has expanded space and modernized work areas intended to improve service. It also has free on-site parking for more than 40 vehicles, according to the release.

The Oct. 13 ceremony will be followed immediately by light refreshments and an open house. The event is open to residents and the press, and no RSVP is required.

Lytle said the move is intended to make the office more accessible while bringing CDL testing back to Cayuga County. The release did not specify regular business hours for the new location or a separate date for the start of routine service.
