Artworks Gallery seeks entries for juried photo show

Photographers can submit work Oct. 29-31 for a juried art exhibition at Artworks Gallery in Seneca Falls, with the show opening Nov. 6 and running through Dec. 3, according to the Seneca County Arts Council.

Entries will be accepted from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on each submission day at the gallery, 109 Fall St., and a public awards reception with refreshments is set for 5:30-7 p.m. Nov. 6.

Entry rules and prizes

The entry fee is $10 for students, $25 for arts council members and $35 for nonmembers. Photographs must be original, matted and framed, ready to hang with wire. The back of each entry must list the artist's name and phone number, the work's title and a price. The release lists a 12-by-18 size limit but does not state the measurement unit; applicants can confirm that detail with the gallery before preparing a print.

The gallery will receive a 25% commission on any work sold during the show. Entry applications are available at the arts council's website or at the gallery.

Best in Show carries a $100 prize. Student, novice and advanced divisions each have a $100 Juror's Choice award and $50 honorable mentions. Visitors can vote for a People's Choice winner throughout the exhibition; that winner will receive a 2027 arts council membership when the show closes in December.

Exhibition and reception

Elissa Davidson, a professional photographer with more than 20 years of experience, will judge the show. She is also a co-owner of It's A Wonderful Scoop in downtown Seneca Falls with David Goldberg. Winners will be invited to display their work at the ice cream shop, the council said.

Artworks Gallery's regular hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Saturday. Visitors making a special trip can call 315-257-0201 to confirm it is open; the council said the gallery will be staffed during the photo-entry dates.
