Auburn residents will have two opportunities to dispose of garbage, furniture, electronics, yard waste and other materials during the city’s Fall Cleaning Event.
The cleanup days are scheduled for Saturday, Sept. 26, and Saturday, Oct. 3, from 7 to 11:30 a.m. at the City of Auburn Transfer Station, 311 North Division St.
The event is limited to Auburn residents, who will be required to show both a driver’s license and vehicle registration as proof of residency. The addresses on both documents must match. A landfill permit won’t be required.
Residents can dispose of garbage, recycling, mattresses and box springs, furniture, electronics and yard waste or brush at no charge. Accepted electronics include computer parts, microwaves, DVDs, VCRs, printers, televisions, cellphones, mobile devices and fluorescent lamps.
Up to four car tires, with or without rims, will also be accepted per residence each day.
All garbage must be contained in a can or bag, and yard waste and brush must be removed from plastic bags before disposal. Trailers, box vans and U-Hauls won’t be allowed.
Some appliances will carry a fee. Refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners and dehumidifiers containing Freon will cost $45 each.
Hazardous waste, grease, asbestos, solvents, motor oil, paint, liquid waste and cooking oil won’t be accepted.
