Gov. Kathy Hochul's reelection campaign criticized Republican challenger Bruce Blakeman on Thursday after he told voters to support him on Nov. 4, one day after New York's 2026 general election.
Blakeman made the date reference in a campaign statement attacking Hochul for accepting the Working Families Party ballot line. The statement urged voters to reject what he called the party's socialist agenda “on November 4th.”
The New York State Board of Elections lists Election Day as Tuesday, Nov. 3. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m., with early voting scheduled from Oct. 24 through Nov. 1.
Hochul's campaign highlighted the discrepancy in a brief release Thursday, calling attention to Blakeman's wording and noting that Nov. 4 falls after Election Day.
The Working Families Party endorsed Hochul for reelection this week, giving the Democratic governor another ballot line in the race. Blakeman, the Nassau County executive, is running as the Republican candidate.
The Blakeman campaign statement did not indicate whether the Nov. 4 date was a typographical error. The campaign's broader criticism focused on taxes, energy costs, public safety and zoning.
