Harris Poll finds AI curiosity outpaces trust

Americans are using artificial intelligence regularly while remaining cautious about its advice and accuracy, according to new findings released by The Harris Poll.

The poll found 48% of respondents had a positive view of AI, compared with 26% who viewed it negatively and 25% who were neutral. About 23% said they used AI daily or several times a day, while 22% used it weekly.

Trust lags behind use

Nearly two-thirds of respondents said they trusted AI less than advice from friends or family, including 39% who trusted it much less. On personal-life advice, 40% expressed distrust, 29% were neutral and 31% expressed trust.

Respondents were most likely to report daily AI use for creativity, entertainment and productivity. Smaller shares cited shopping and health-related uses.

About 42% said AI could improve productivity at work. Research, email writing and content creation were among the most commonly anticipated workplace uses.

Consumers remain open to financial tools

The poll found 46% were at least potentially open to using AI to manage money, although most in that group said they would need the right tools and assurances. The findings show interest in AI does not necessarily translate into confidence in high-stakes advice.

The Harris Poll attributed the findings to its QuestDIY research platform but did not include a sample size or field dates in the published summary.
