A Rochester woman was ticketed after deputies said she failed to yield at a stop sign, causing a two-vehicle crash that sent another vehicle rolling over in the town of Jerusalem.
The crash happened around 12:25 p.m. Aug. 5 at the intersection of Route 54A and Pepper Road, according to the Yates County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said Caitlin Bird, 20, of Rochester, was traveling west on Pepper Road and stopped at a posted stop sign.
At the same time, Robert Brown, 66, of Keuka Park, was traveling northeast on Route 54A as another, uninvolved vehicle began turning onto Pepper Road.
Investigators said Brown continued north and was struck in the rear passenger side by Bird’s vehicle after she pulled into the lane and failed to yield the right of way.
Brown’s vehicle then rolled over and came to rest.
Both drivers were evaluated by emergency medical personnel and refused further treatment, according to the Sheriff’s Office.
Bird was cited for failing to yield the right of way at a stop sign.
Branchport-Keuka Park firefighters, Penn Yan Ambulance, Yates County Office of Emergency Services and the state Department of Transportation assisted at the scene.
