A dispute at a Town of Jerusalem residence ended with gunfire and felony charges after authorities say a man fired multiple weapons in the direction of another person.
Theodore D. Courtney, 33, of Penn Yan, was charged with first-degree reckless endangerment and criminal possession of a firearm following an investigation by the Yates County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities said deputies responded to a residential disturbance on Pineview Drive around 11:39 p.m. June 2.
According to investigators, Courtney was involved in a physical altercation with another man. After the two became separated, deputies said Courtney retrieved a handgun and a rifle from his residence and discharged both weapons in the direction of the other individual.
Courtney was taken into custody and transported to the Yates County Jail for centralized arraignment proceedings. The sheriff’s office said additional charges are pending.
Deputies Presher, Middlebrook and McGuigan responded to the incident along with investigators Emerson and Rayburn and Lt. P. Breuer.
