Deputies arrested a man early Sunday after responding to a reported domestic disturbance in Yates County.
Michael A. Brown, 25, of Penn Yan, was taken into custody around 12:09 a.m. on Jan. 11 in the Town of Jerusalem following an investigation by the Yates County Sheriff’s Office.
Deputies said Brown subjected another Town of Jerusalem resident to unwanted physical contact and menaced her with a knife. Investigators also said Brown acted in a manner likely to cause harm to the victim.
A juvenile witnessed part of the incident, according to the sheriff’s office.
Brown was charged with menacing in the first degree, a felony. He also faces misdemeanor charges of endangering the welfare of a child, criminal obstruction of breathing, and reckless endangerment in the second degree, along with a violation-level charge of harassment in the second degree.
Deputies took Brown into custody and transported him to the Yates County Jail, where he was held awaiting CAP arraignment.
New York State Police assisted at the scene.
