The Yates County Legislature's Finance Committee will consider requesting a one-year extension for the county's ReConnect broadband project when it meets Tuesday, Aug. 4.
The committee is scheduled to meet at 2 p.m. in the legislative chambers at 417 Liberty St. in Penn Yan, with remote access available through Zoom.
The proposed resolution would authorize the Legislature chair to seek the extension from the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The request would carry no additional funding, cost or financial obligation for the county, according to the agenda packet.
The county reported 56 customers connected to the broadband network. Phase 2 is live, although about 36 homes in its farthest reaches may face delays because long-distance splitters are needed.
For Phase 3, Eustis Cable was identified as the apparent low bidder at $2.6 million, and the construction window is expected to last about 80 days after permits and materials are in place.
The committee will also consider the county's proposed 2027-31 capital improvement plan, budget transfers and several appropriations. The Zoom webinar ID is 836 7156 3503 and the passcode is 972920.
