Yates County public safety panel to consider shared code officer agreement

The Yates County Legislature's Public Safety Committee will consider extending a shared code enforcement officer agreement when it meets Tuesday, Aug. 4.

The committee is scheduled to meet at 12:30 p.m. in the legislative chambers at 417 Liberty St. in Penn Yan, with remote access available through Zoom.

Under the proposal, the officer would remain a Yates County employee and provide shared services to Schuyler County from Jan. 1, 2027, through Dec. 31, 2028.

Schuyler County would pay Yates County $3,000 annually under the agreement, with the rate reviewable every two years, according to the agenda packet.

The committee will also consider a licensing agreement between the sheriff's office and TOTIB Media Inc., which does business as FLX Local Media. Reports are expected from the district attorney, probation, emergency services and sheriff's office, along with an update on the public safety facility project.

The Zoom webinar ID is 836 7156 3503 and the passcode is 972920.
