One airlifted, another hospitalized after ATV crash in Throop

Two people were hospitalized after an all-terrain vehicle crash on Donovan Road in Throop, including one patient who was flown to a Syracuse trauma center with a head injury, the Throop Fire Department said.

Throop firefighters and Auburn City Ambulance crews responded to a report of two patients involved in a crash on one ATV.

Paramedics requested a LifeNet of New York helicopter for the patient with the head injury. Aurelius firefighters established a landing zone behind their fire station.

The second patient was taken by another Auburn City Ambulance crew to Upstate University Hospital's trauma center.

The New York State Police are investigating the crash, and Cayuga County 911 also assisted at the scene. Throop and Aurelius units returned to service by 7:45, according to the department.
