A man was charged with violating a stay-away order in Throop after deputies said he damaged a protected woman's belongings and stopped her from calling 911.
Myles Hanke, 34, of Mattydale was arrested Sept. 19 and charged with two felony counts of first-degree criminal contempt and three misdemeanor counts of fourth-degree criminal mischief, the Cayuga County Sheriff's Office said in an Oct. 1 release.
Deputies responded to a possible order-of-protection violation at about 1:50 a.m. Sept. 19 and found that Hanke had been at the woman's home despite a full stay-away order, according to the release.
Hanke allegedly damaged her cellphone and glasses, then grabbed a second phone from her hand as she tried to call 911. Deputies said he left before they arrived.
The Sheriff's Office said Hanke returned to the home at about 6:38 a.m. and was arrested roughly 11 minutes later.
He was taken to the Public Safety Building for processing and then to the Cayuga County Jail for centralized arraignment, where he was remanded without bail. The release said he was scheduled to appear in Throop Town Court on Sept. 23 but gave no outcome of that appearance.
