An Ontario County woman was charged Wednesday with fourth-degree welfare fraud after investigators said she continued receiving assistance for children who no longer lived with her.
Krystal A. Latour, 36, of Geneva, allegedly received about $2,567 more in temporary assistance and Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits than she would have received had the change been reported.
The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office said its investigation began after the county Department of Social Services received information that Latour’s children were no longer living in her household. Investigators issued Latour an appearance ticket at about 10:45 a.m. July 15.
Latour was released and is scheduled to appear in Hopewell Town Court at a later date to answer the charge.
