Canandaigua will honor former Mayor Ellen Polimeni with a local day of recognition this week, according to the Canandaigua Messenger. The city plans to designate July 16 as Ellen Polimeni Day as she turns 85.
The public celebration is scheduled for noon July 18 at the Commons Park stage on Main Street during the Downtown Canandaigua Art & Music Festival.
Polimeni served the Canandaigua community for about 50 years, including as mayor from 1991 to 2019 and as a longtime school district administrator.
