Pultneyville Homecoming returns July 18

Pultneyville Homecoming will return July 18 with a full day of events tied to one of Wayne County's longest-running summer traditions.

The 66th annual celebration, sponsored by the Williamson-Pultneyville Historical Society, will run from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on the grounds of historic Gates Hall and Centennial Park at 4107 Lake Road in Pultneyville.

This year's theme is "Let Freedom Ring," coinciding with America 250. Organizers are encouraging residents to wear red, white and blue, decorate homes and take part in the 3 p.m. parade with floats, vintage cars or tractors.

The day will include a family fun run, parade, historical walking tour, classic car show and opportunities to explore the lakeside hamlet's historic architecture and maritime heritage. Visitors are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and spend the day at the celebration.

Admission is free, though select activities and food or beverage purchases will be available during the event.

The Homecoming celebration is held the third full weekend of July and is planned by a committee of community volunteers. The Williamson-Pultneyville Historical Society, a 501(c)(3) organization, is the steward of Gates Hall, which the group describes as America's oldest continuously active small community theater.
