Hornell man faces felony charges after being found in bed with protected party

A Hornell man was jailed after deputies said he violated an order of protection in Steuben County, according to Sheriff Jim Allard.

Deputies arrested Austin L. Briggs, 38, of Dennis Road in Hornell, on July 1 after a report that he was in a room in bed with the protected party of a duly served order of protection.

The Sheriff's Office said Briggs is accused of violating the order of protection and had been previously convicted of violating an order of protection within the past five years.

Briggs was charged with aggravated family offense and first-degree criminal contempt, both class E felonies.

He was arraigned in centralized arraignment court and remanded to the Steuben County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond.
