Ontario County deputies handled 15,554 police calls, 118 arrests in June

The Ontario County Sheriff’s Office handled thousands of calls, arrests, jail admissions and crash investigations in June, according to a monthly recap released by the agency.

The report offers a snapshot of the steady workload carried by deputies, corrections officers, dispatchers, medical staff and other personnel across the county, including more than 15,000 police calls and hundreds of traffic stops, emergency responses and jail-related matters.

The Sheriff’s Office said its Communications Bureau handled 15,554 police calls during the month. Dispatchers also processed 1,579 EMS calls and 634 fire calls.

The Law Enforcement Bureau reported 3,213 total Sheriff’s Office events in June, including 710 traffic stops, 118 total arrests and seven DWI arrests. Deputies also responded to five overdose incidents, with no reported Narcan use.

The agency said deputies handled 116 calls at Eastview Mall and participated in 54 K-9 events. The office also processed 16 pistol permits during the month.

Crash data showed deputies investigated 85 car-versus-deer crashes, 165 property damage motor vehicle accidents and 59 personal injury crashes. No fatal motor vehicle accidents were reported in June.

The Jail Bureau reported a median inmate population of 94 during the month. The jail recorded 93 male admissions and 17 female admissions, along with 675 medical encounters.

The report also listed 48 arraignments and 27 releases on recognizance.

Sheriff’s officials said the numbers reflect work that often happens outside the public spotlight but remains part of daily public safety operations across Ontario County.
