East Bloomfield opened a 1976 time capsule as the nation approaches its 250th anniversary, according to the Canandaigua Messenger. The capsule was buried at Town Hall during the country's bicentennial.
Items inside included a Bloomfield High School yearbook, bicentennial stamps, a commemorative plate, a town patch, newspaper articles and a Seneca-Gorham telephone book.
Town officials said a committee will begin planning a new capsule for 2076. Residents interested in helping can contact the town clerk or historical society.
