A domestic disturbance in Steuben County led to felony charges against a Naples man after state police said he assaulted a woman, damaged property and entered an occupied home while armed with a shovel.
Brendan Miller, 21, of Naples, was arrested following an investigation into an incident reported June 2 at a residence on Cold Springs Road in the town of Bath. Troopers responded after receiving a 911 call reporting a disturbance involving a shovel.
According to New York State Police, Miller allegedly assaulted and threatened a female victim during a domestic dispute. Investigators said he also damaged property inside and outside the residence, including a pickup truck.
The investigation further determined that Miller unlawfully entered an occupied dwelling while armed with a shovel. Troopers located him a short time later on Cold Springs Road and took him into custody without incident.
Miller was charged with second-degree burglary, second-degree criminal mischief, second-degree menacing, fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, endangering the welfare of a child and second-degree harassment. Following processing at State Police in Bath, he was transported to the Steuben County Jail for centralized arraignment.
