Bath man charged with violating order of protection

A report of a possible order of protection violation led to the arrest of a Bath man who police say was seen in the presence of a protected individual despite a court-issued stay-away order.

Jackie J. Fisher, 52, who is listed as homeless, was charged with second-degree criminal contempt, a Class A misdemeanor, following an investigation by the Village of Bath Police Department.

Police said officers were dispatched around 4:30 p.m. May 26 after receiving a report of a potential violation. Investigators determined Fisher had violated a full stay-away order of protection after he was allegedly observed on surveillance footage in the presence of the protected party.

Authorities requested and obtained an arrest warrant through Bath Village Court charging Fisher with the offense. He was taken into custody May 27 and arraigned in Bath Village Court.

Following arraignment, Fisher was remanded to the Steuben County Jail with the opportunity for bail.
