A Pennsylvania man was arrested on multiple felony charges Saturday night after Yates County deputies said he showed signs of intoxication during a traffic stop in the Town of Torrey.
The Yates County Sheriff’s Office said deputies stopped a vehicle around 7:33 p.m. May 16 on State Route 14 after observing a traffic violation. The driver was identified as John M. Hotchkiss, 34, of Montgomery, Pennsylvania.
According to deputies, Hotchkiss displayed signs of intoxication during the stop and refused to perform standardized field sobriety tests. He was taken into custody and transported to the Yates County Jail to await arraignment in CAP Court.
Hotchkiss was charged with felony driving while intoxicated, first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, operating without an ignition interlock device, consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle and moving from a lane unsafely.
The sheriff’s office said the New York State Police assisted at the scene.
